Cost, Billing & Payment Options

At Lumiere Eyecare, we believe everyone deserves high-quality, personalised eye care. To provide thorough, unrushed consultations, we use a mixed billing model. This helps us deliver the best possible eye tests while accommodating different needs and managing the cost of care.

What Is Mixed Billing?

Mixed billing means we offer both bulk-billed and privately billed services, depending on appointment type, eligibility, and care required. This ensures we can maintain high standards of care without compromising quality due to time or cost pressures.

Bulk-Billed Eye Tests

We offer bulk-billing for eligible patients, including:

  • Children under 18
  • Government issued concession and pension card holders
  • Gold DVA card holders

Bulk-billed services cover routine exams and some follow-ups, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria. Please bring your valid Medicare or concession card.

Privately Billed Services

Some services incur a private cost, such as:

  • Patients without Medicare or concession eligibility
  • Additional diagnostic imaging (e.g., OCT, retinal photos). Discounted for concession card holders
  • Contact lens fittings or reviews
  • Vision therapy consultations
  • Extended or complex appointments

Medicare rebates are processed for eligible privately billed patients after the consultation.

Health Fund Claims

Depending on your health insurance plan, you may be able to claim some diagnostic scan costs. We also offer on-the-spot HICAPS claiming for glasses and lenses.

Payment Options

We make managing your eye care costs easier with flexible payment options:

  • Credit/Debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX)
  • EFTPOS
  • Cash
  • Direct bank transfer
  • Afterpay (for eyewear and selected services)
  • Private health insurance (HICAPS)

Why Mixed Billing?

Our mixed billing model allows us to spend the time needed on your eye health. We’re committed to offering clear advice, tailored care, and maintaining quality without rushing appointments.

Cancellation Policy

To ensure fair access to appointments and quality care for all patients, please note the following:

  • A $60 fee may apply for cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments.
  • You can cancel or reschedule by phone, email, Whatsapp, or via our online contact form.

We understand emergencies happen—please contact us as soon as possible if you’re unable to attend due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. We handle such cases with care and discretion.
